BIO

Emmy Award winner Matty Kajcienski is currently one of today’s most aired network theme composers, including the theme music to Dick Wolf’s series First Responders (FOX), Rogue Trip (Disney+), Good Morning America (ABC), Nightline (ABC), This Week with George Stephanopoulos (ABC), Stay Tuned (NBC), 20/20 (ABC), the ABC Network and ABC News branding, and the Oscars Opening Ceremony Theme to name a few. Kajcienski's upcoming scores for film include the feature iMordecai (in post-production - starring Judd Hirsch, Carol Kane, and Sean Aston), Stars and Strife (fall of 2020 - produced by Barry Levinson), and more. Known for his colorful orchestrations, imaginative textures, and thoughtful approach to scoring, Kajcienski has successfully blended the line between contemporary concert music and scoring.

Kajcienski holds both a Bachelor and Masters of music degrees from the famed Juilliard School where he studied composition with Pulitzer/Oscar winner John Corigliano and Samuel Adler, as well as violin studies with Stephen Clapp. While at Juilliard, Matthew began exploring creative ways to integrate live electronics into his orchestral writing. His first large scale award-winning orchestral work implementing live electronics (“SEVEN” for Orchestra and Soprano with live electronics) was premiered in 2002 at Lincoln Center with The Juilliard Orchestra. Concert music award highlights include awards from The National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences (EMMY), The American Academy of Arts and LettersASCAP, Turner Classic MoviesNFAA (National Foundation for the Advancement of the Art), The Juilliard School, and others.

Kajcienski has also composed music for many major advertising clients including Siemens, Coke, Bengay, American Express, Nintendo Wii, Shredded Wheat, IBM, BlackRock, CISCO, Merck, Mylan, ShreddiesKodak, and numerous others.

Kajcienski’s roots in the concert music world includes multiple chamber and orchestral premieres at NYC’s Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, as well as regular performances of his music by notable soloists and ensembles throughout the US and abroad.

His most recent projects include an EM/Orchestral Dance Work, cross pollinating contemporary classical music and electronic music (EM) using 3D Audio. The ballet is scheduled to be completed next year.

Matthew enjoys splitting his time between NYC and Los Angeles with his wife, pianist Miori Sugiyama, his daughter Maggie. When not composing, he enjoys classic Lionel trains, his vintage DeLorean, and landscaping/gardening.
